Nuki Setup

Guide for connecting a Nuki smart lock with Reservine -- from activating Nuki Web to generating an API token.

Nuki Setup

This guide walks you through connecting a Nuki lock to Reservine. If you're not sure which lock to choose, check the smart locks overview.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • A Nuki Smart Lock (2.0 or newer) -- installed on the door
  • A Nuki Bridge (WiFi bridge) -- for remote control over the internet
  • A Nuki account -- registered at nuki.io
  • A stable WiFi connection at the Bridge installation location

The Nuki Bridge is essential for remote lock control. It must be within Bluetooth range of the lock (up to 10 meters) and connected to your WiFi network. Without the Bridge, the integration with Reservine will not work.

Step-by-Step Setup

The Nuki setup involves 4 steps. The entire process takes approximately 10 minutes.

Step 1: Activate Nuki Web

First, enable access to the Nuki Web API in your Nuki app:

  1. Open the Nuki mobile app on your phone
  2. Go to the Settings of your lock
  3. Find the Nuki Web option (or Activate Nuki Web)
  4. Enable Web API access

If you have multiple locks, activate Nuki Web for each lock you want to connect to Reservine.

For detailed instructions on activating Nuki Web, refer to the official Nuki help center at support.nuki.io.

Step 2: Log In to Nuki Web

  1. Open your browser and go to web.nuki.io
  2. Log in with your Nuki account (same credentials as in the mobile app)
  3. After logging in, you should see a list of your locks

If you don't see any locks, go back to Step 1 and verify that Nuki Web is activated.

Step 3: Generate an API Token

This is the most important step -- pay close attention.

  1. In Nuki Web, go to the API section
  2. Click Generate New Token (Generate new API token)
  3. Name the token (e.g., "Reservine")
  4. Confirm the generation

The API token is displayed ONLY ONCE. Once you close the dialog or leave the page, the token can no longer be viewed. Copy it immediately and save it in a secure location.

  1. Immediately copy the displayed token (a long string of characters)
  2. Save the token to your clipboard or a secure file -- you will need it in the next step

Step 4: Enter the Token in Reservine

  1. Log in to the Reservine admin panel
  2. Go to Settings > Extensions
  3. Find the Nuki card in the smart locks section
  4. Click Connect
  5. Paste the token you copied in the previous step into the API token field
  6. Click Save or Connect

Reservine will verify the token and load a list of your Nuki locks. If the token is correct, the status will show Connected.

After Connecting

Assigning a Lock to a Branch

  1. A list of all Nuki locks on your account will appear
  2. For each lock, click Assign to Branch
  3. Select a branch from the list
  4. Confirm the assignment

Verifying Functionality

  1. Go to Settings > Smart Locks (monitoring)
  2. Verify that your lock is displayed with the Online status
  3. Check the battery level
  4. Create a test reservation and verify proper functionality

Lock Management

Battery Status

The Nuki Smart Lock is battery-powered. In the monitoring dashboard, you can see the current charge level:

  • Green -- battery is fine
  • Yellow -- low level, schedule a replacement
  • Red -- critical level, replace as soon as possible

Changing or Revoking a Token

If you need to change the API token (e.g., for security reasons):

  1. In Nuki Web, go to the API section
  2. Revoke the old token
  3. Generate a new token (copy it immediately again!)
  4. In Reservine, go to Settings > Extensions > Nuki
  5. Update the token

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
"Invalid token" when connectingToken was copied incorrectly or has expiredGenerate a new token in Nuki Web and copy it carefully
Locks don't appearNuki Web is not activated for the locksActivate Nuki Web in the mobile app (Step 1)
Lock is "Offline"Bridge is not connected to WiFiCheck the Bridge power supply and WiFi connection
Delayed unlockingWeak WiFi connection on the BridgeImprove WiFi signal near the Bridge
Lock doesn't respondLock batteries are deadReplace the lock batteries
Bridge not foundBridge is out of range of the lockMove the Bridge closer to the lock (within 10 meters)

Most Common Setup Mistakes

  1. Forgetting to copy the token -- the token is only displayed once in Nuki Web. If you didn't copy it, you must generate a new one
  2. Nuki Web not activated -- without activation in the mobile app, locks won't appear in Nuki Web
  3. Missing Bridge -- without the Bridge, the lock only works via Bluetooth, which is not sufficient for the integration
  4. Low batteries -- a lock with dead batteries won't respond to remote commands

Security

  • The API token is only used for communication with the Nuki Web API
  • Reservine does not store any additional login credentials
  • Access permissions are time-limited to the reservation duration
  • All communication is encrypted via HTTPS
  • You can track lock activity in the monitoring dashboard
